Lee Rozier Review of Criss Cross Criss Cross was a really easy read. It was young adult literature in its purest form. I think it would max out on age appropriateness at around 14 years old. The low end of the scale would comfortably go as low as 10 years old. I can see where it would definitely be appealing to a specific group of young adults. On the educational standpoint, this book would definitely need to taken into consideration of its audience’s background. Due to the book’s length, I wouldn’t recommend this as example to show a different cultural perspective to an urban school system for example. Some of it simply seems too unreal and I think it would be hard for the students to maintain focus on the story line. I can vouch for both perspectives given my incredibly diverse background of growing up in a seriously strange “rural/urban” environment. I know the type of lifestyle presented in the book exist but, it even seemed unreal when I saw it with my own eyes. The title of the book, kind of through me off balance while reading the story. After reading all of the big thriller/drama type young adult stuff I have been reading lately, I was expecting some crazy twist. It never happened. It maintained the whole good ole suburban theme for the entire 300 plus pages.
