أي شخص يريد أن يكون كاتبا يجب أن يقرأ هذا! أحببت هذا الكتاب ، وأتمنى الآن أن أدعو ستيفن كينغ لتناول الشاي. كتابه سيجعلني أفضل!
dear mr. barth- who the fuck are you? signed, me
At age 12, Johnny's twin sister disappeared, shortly thereafter his father leaves. Johnny and his mother have survived the last year each in their own way -- Johnny has been systematically searching for his sister's kidnapper and his mother has descended into alcohol and drugs and sought consolation from a rich, abusive man. Factor in Johnny's best friend who is dealing with problems of his own, the cop who seems obsessed with the girl's disappearance and Johnny and his mother, and a couple of mysterious deaths and you have one incredibly suspenseful story and a well-crafted mystery. I've now read three of John Hart's books and have loved every one of them. He is a master at creating characters that evoke strong attachment and empathy. Johnny and Hunt (the cop) are realistic in their reactions and are both admirable in their tenacity. Johnny's mother is difficult to like, but understandable in her grief. The plot is believable and kept me on my toes with new revelations at every turn. Just when you think you have it figured out, POW! Something incredible is revealed. I finished this one in a weekend and had to force myself to put it down to go to sleep. I can't wait to read his latest, except what will I read after that???
Had to read the Spark notes and draw a diagram of all the characters to get through this story. It took some time, but it was a good story.
this book was a fun, fast read.
