Thought I'd read this but must have just started it ages ago and then filed it. I liked the strong female characters. Mariella found an inner strength she didn't know she had. I liked the way the story went backwards and forwards from 'home' to the Crimea, until the last few chapters when I thought it spoiled the pace of story. I also liked the end as you can 'make up your own ending'.
