Funny book with an awesome female narrator. Portis does an amazing job of writing a story from the perspective of an elderly lady looking back on her childhood. Roy Blount Jr. has a blurb on the book saying that Portis could have been Cormac McCarthy, but he'd rather be funny, which is an apt comparison. Would be a good Reader's Advisory pick for teens of either gender.
