Despite the title this was a lousy book. I think the author got a sweetheart deal just because he wrote for the New Yorker. Couple of good quotes, because the only good things in this book weren't written by the author: p. 46 “Nothing carries a man through the world like a true genuine natural impudence.”--Scottish philosopher David Hume p. 47 By one account Denis Diderot’s conversation was ‘enlivened by absolute sincerity, subtle without obscurity, varied in its forms, dazzling in its flights of imagination, fertile in ideas and in its capacity to inspire ideas in others.’
All I can say is I was seriously laughing through this book. It's a must read if you need a pick me up.
