Probably more of a girl's book, but this is by far my favourite of L.M. Montgomery's work. I tried the Anne series a couple times and was never captivated, but The Blue Castle grabbed me within the first couple chapters. I'd particularly recommend reading it if you've just finished reading a book (like Daphne DuMaurier's Rebecca) where the heroine has absolutely no backbone and is hardly able to do anything to help herself. The Blue Castle will make a nice change.

I think this book was overhyped for me. All I kept hearing was about how it changed people's lives. I found it interesting and somewhat thought provoking, but it was by no means life altering. Perhaps I have to read it at different stages in my life or something. Or I'm just dense.
