At times heartbreaking and totally rendering, I really found myself enjoying this. Bender found a really engaging story of how it seems like Rose is cursed with this 'gift' when in fact it runs in the family and they have a hard time dealing with it. Her mother being outside of this makes sense even more in terms of her actions and the fact that Rose realizes perhaps she didn't have it so hard in comparison to a loved one makes you hopeful that she'll be able to have a semi-happy existence as she gets older. A child knowing too much can definitely have an effect on how you relate to people and the fact that Rose gets through it and how is engaging. Definitely makes me want to look into Bender's other work.
