Interesting, but flawed. Diamond's primary problem is his lack of citations--I understand wanting to do away with footnotes to make a popular book, but in doing so he does sacrifice some credibility. The new chapter on Japan is fine, but less than brilliant. Complaints aside, his theory of environmental determinism is fascinating and well-presented, and his use of anecdotes clearly helped in making the book a popular success, rather than just a scholarly niche-book.
