I had to pay attention while reading this book--a lot of military manouver language. (It's the three days of Gettysburg) But this book changed the way I viewed certain aspects of the Civil War. I came away with much more respect (?!?!) and admiration for men like Lee and Longstreet and Chamberlain. This book led me to read the author's son's book _The Last Full Measure_ which picks up with Gettysburg's outcome and ends with Appomatax. And again, came away with new respect for Grant, Sherman, and really soldiers on both sides.
