This is another enjoyable Star Trek novel. I love what ifs. That explains my fascination with alternate histories as well as my attraction to this book. It deals with, in part, adventures of the crew of Captain Pike’s Enterprise, something never shown and only hinted at on the televised series. I especially enjoyed the characterizations of the lesser character only seen during the series original pilot episode and in its recompiled form in The Menagerie. Fun.
