When I first picked up Enders Game I was skeptical about it. I personally was never THAT into science fiction. Granted that the only reason I chose this book was because we had to read it for our exploration project. In the end I'm glad I read this book. I really enjoyed it. Essentially it's a story that follows an 8 year old kid named Ender. He is a child prodigy, talented, smart, and quick to act. He was born into a time where humanity is fighting against an enemy known as "buggers." The U.S. government has been looking for kids that are the top of their age group. The book starts off with Ender getting a monitor removed from the back of his neck, with which the government monitored Ender making sure he was safe. I really got into the book at the get go. The reason for that is because the author was able to make the book relate-able to anyone who reads this book. The reason I say that is because when the monitor was removed he was picked on by all the kids. They picked on him because he had his monitor longer than the other kids and they were teasing him saying, "Hey, Third, hey, you flunked out, huh? Thought you were btter than us, but you lost your little birdie, Thirdie, got a bandaid on your neck." This is after school, where the kids in his class poke fun at him for not having his monitor because he flunked out or something of the sort. So having this monitor in the back of his neck was a big deal, that only the best could have one and it protected Ender from harm. So this section was able to let people relate to the main character and remember some experiences they had with bullies when they were at school when they were younger. Another thing that make this book really enjoyable was the way that in science fiction the author is not bound by realism. He could stretch the story as wide as possible, and make it whatever you want. So the way this author delivered it was very interesting. “Ender pointed all around the door, to tell them that Salamander Army was undoubtedly deployed against the wall all around the door, where they couldn't be seen but could easily flash anyone who came out.” This is the part where Ender is in a simulated battle with this group of soldiers. He realized that this battle was rigged from the beginning to have them lose. So what he did was quickly think up a plan to go against the odds. Since he knew that the opposing group was waiting for his group to cross through the doors to eliminate them, he concocted an idea that would later save the group from a loss. Just the way he explained it and thought about it so quickly was stunning. That’s the beauty of reading a book like this, if the author does a great job describing different situations you will never find a dull moment during your entire reading of the book. In the end I would say this book was very well written. There weren't any dull parts in the book so I was never bored while reading a book like this. It reminds me of the book Band of Brothers in the sense that Enders Game is always interesting and nothing was really wrong with the book.
