On the plus side, the author does justice to the historical period, I could really feel and see the context. I was OK with heroine, but it was simply implausible that anyone let a lone a young girl would voluntarily not make a sound even in private, for six years. The hero was an emotionally abusive jerk and I could see no reason the heroine would have fallen in love with him. The likelihood of the HEA lasting would be zero IMHO.
