This was a really interesting read. There were really two story lines: the creation and opening of the World's Fair in Chicago in 1893 and a serial killer who took advantage of an overabundance of young men and women who came to work at the fair. It was amazing to learn of all the products introduced at that fair...from Cracker Jacks to the Ferris Wheel to alternating current electricity. And all the players involved from inception to the opening day. The other storyline regarding 'Dr.'Holmes who had a hotel built near the Fair complete with gas chamber and a crematorium. Again, it is the author's style that annoyed me...skipping from one topic to another, leaving you hanging at the end of a chapter then not answering the questions until chapters and chapters down the road..if at all. History buffs should really enjoy this book!

This was a fun compilation--reading Jane Austen is always a good idea. And it made me want to read Northanger Abbey and Mansfield Park, which I haven't read yet. Anyway, a good, light read.
