Amy Bloom spins an amazing yarn around a nugget of truth, trying to imagine what could have held a young woman's drive so that she walked up the Telegraph Trail in Alaska to Siberia in the 1920's. Bloom creates a strong main character on a fascinating journey, helped by believable and wonderful characters on side journeys all along the way. I simply loved the book, though it is as rough in some spots as it is magical in others. I'd love to hear what you think....

Great adventure book about pirates, fairies, orphans, and mermads. Awesome. My kids loved it.
