while i found the premise intriguing, the characters left me cold. i didn't find any of them sympathetic, nor did i understand anyone's true thoughts or motivations. i continued reading in hopes of understanding things better; in hopes of understanding these people and their lives better. instead, i felt just increasingly frustrated and as though i were missing the true story, left with merely an abridged version.
