I really wanted to like this book, but I felt like it didn't deliver. Sort of a "Marketing for Librarians" (as opposed to "Marketing for Dummies"), this book can help libraries to better maintain their image and to become more integral parts of their communities though basic marketing strategies. And I give the authors credit for putting together such a basic, yet comprehensive, book on marketing libraries in the digital age. It's hard to nail down tech trends long enough to write about them, but they have done a good job with it. The main problem that I have with "Bite-Sized Marketing" is that while the ideas and suggestions presented here are fantastic, the "Overworked Librarian" of the title cannot possibly incorporate even half of these strategies into their day-to-day work. For example, every one minute of podcasting requires 10 minutes of editing? I get that this book is like a less-expensive (though still quite pricey) version of a marketing consultant, but still, the book that touts "realistic solutions" seems to be a bit optimistic.
