** spoiler alert ** The life of an ordinary young man living in Tokyo begins to change as he quits his job, his wife leaves him and he starts hiding in a well to make sense of things. Along the way he meets some strange women and finally tries to rescue his wife from her brother. It was a very long and rather strange book, but I enjoyed it. As is usual, the narrator was the most uninteresting person, and I would have liked to see more of the other characters.
