I think yo will like this book if you are interested in spirituality, especially non-conventional spirituality, caregiving, cancer, or tearjerkers. OK-- here is the basic premise of the book. This part is not really a spoiler as you can get this from the book jacket. Backstory: Ken Wilber is a very well known theorist in the area of transpersonal psychology, which is a synthesis of Western psychology and Eastern phlosophy. (He remarks sarcastically this is like being the tallest building in Denver.) Wilber originally was interested in a scientific career, studied biochemistry, quits living a conventional lifestyle, starts Zen meditation, ekes out a living buys, owns nothing but a library of about four thousand books, writes continuously, and publishes book after book, and ends up being fairly famous. After about a decade or so of this he meets, and instantly falls in love with Treya, who is also extremely interested in spirituality, and is also a meditator, intelligent, joyous, and ambitious to be productive and also trained in therapy and spiritual disciplines. They set a date to get married almost immediately. She has a routine physical, and the doctor discovers a large lump in her breast just before the wedding.... (view spoiler)
