I wasn't looking forward to Bloodlines. I honestly thought the story would suffer losing it's strong heroine in Rose, but Sydney was a refreshing change in the end.

surprisingly funny... for a school book

This is my favourite Allende novel. Read it twice...the first tiem I was very young and didn't remember much ...really enjoyed the main characters and the mystecism mixed in with a good plot and an interesting political and historical time period.
