I do not completely agree with the many that compare Pym to Jane Austin. I will agree that both cover the subject of being a woman in the times that they are written and I suppose both were bravely taking a feminist bent. Pym however, included more humor and very real characters. Our heroine, Mildred Lathbury is not so much a facet of womanhood as I feel the characters in Austin's novels are, but a more complete and balanced picture. I loved this book and can't wait to read another.
