Lucilla Andrews was a favourite author of my teenage years so I was delighted to find this book in a local second hand shop. By coincidence I found this book, along with a number of Ngaio Marsh's, on the day when the earthquake hit Christchurch. I was quite numb and unable to settle or sleep. I found a lot of comfort in the familiar world that Miss Andrews created so skillfully. Her nurses and patients seem like old friends and reminded me of the skill, courage and heroism that exist amongst the routine of life
