CONTAINS SPOILERS I seem to be one of only a few who did not appreciate this book as much as its prequels. Started out good, but not as good as the first two. It could have been, but maybe it was too rushed? This book made me really resent Elias, and up until now he was one of my favorite characters. Annah obsesses over leaving her sister in the forest over and over...and over...throughout the whole book. OK we get it. You feel guilty. You don't have to bring it up in every paragraph. I also didn't get the whole Catcher and Annah "thing." Carrie Ryan really enjoys placing her characters in awkward love triangles...and squares.. I know there are only a handful of eligible lovers out there after the zombie apocolypse and all, but still. He cared about Gabry enough not to ever kiss her because he thought she may get infected. But now he claims to be head over heels for Annah after a few days and they basically make out. What's the deal? You love her so much you're willing to risk killing her but not Gabry who you do not love? I don't know I just found myself speed reading at the end because I wanted to get it over with. The balloon escape was interesting but didn't redeem the rest of the book. I could have went without a third book. I know I'm making it sound really bad, and compared to the other two it kind of is. Final: I don't regret ever reading it, but I'll never have the desire to read it again.
