I was really disappointed. I had heard so many good things about this book and since they are making a book out of it I thought I might as well read it. But it was soooooooo boring! I barely finished it! The writing was bland and dull and the romance was just like every other one.

When Cat and Gwendolen Chant's parents die in a boating accident, they are sent to live with Chrestomanci and his family. The only problem is, they don't understand exactly *why* they are living with him. Gwendolen is furious that Chrestomanci ignores her talent with magic and Cat simply does what Gwendolen tells him to do. Soon Gwendolen's fury and her connections with Chrestomanci's enemies turn her into more than a mere nuisance. Cat also starts to realize that he is far more magically talented than he ever suspected. Fun bits: interdimensional travel, an orphaned dragon and a cat that used to be a fiddle.
