I love fairy tales! I had hoped, when purchasing this, that it would be a combination of two of my favorite genres: fantasy and historical fiction. It wasn't - it was pure historical fiction. I still truly enjoyed the story and would like to read more about some of the secondary characters (especially Wick!) I enjoyed how the author took the typical "props" of the Cinderella story and weaved them into her own story. You had the daughter-turned-servant, the stepmother, the stepsister, and the prince. There was a godmother and there were "rats." There was a ball. There were even glass slippers and a midnight chase! It all came together in a fun and interesting story in true historical romance fashion.
