One of my most embarrassing college moments came from reading this book--or more accurately, not reading this book. I only skimmed Smith's work when it was assigned in a class, and then to my horror it came up on the final exam. Except, of course, I didn't realize at the time that the question referred to Smith. The question was "What is the invisible hand?" I was drawing a total blank, so I put, "An Iranian terrorist organization." And I still groan when I think of Smith.

It may not be a full four stars - more like 3.75. It was a fun read - easy and quick! I read "Glass Castle" first, but I would recommend anyone wanting to read these two, to read this first. I details the life of Lily Casey Smith, the authors grandmother. It's the stories of her life that had been passed down through the generations and leads up to her own memoir "Glass Castle". A wonderful tale of a life fully lived - Lily could be a poster child for keeping her chin up. She didn't have an easy life, but she worked hard at everything she did and was rewarded for it by a wonderful family!
