LOVED this book....The author won a pulitzer prize - and deserves it! Stacy Schiff has an elegant touch in this biography of a difficult subject, the wife of Vladimir Nabokov (Lolita) She spent her life trying to stay in the shadows - She and Vladimir were happily married for over 50 years, and both left Russia (st. petersburg) during the pogroms, and then had to leave their newly adopted city, Berlin, when Hilter rose in power (Vera was jewish) This book is a wonderful look at part of the history of the early l900s in Russia and Germany, and the 50's in the USA where they lived for many years. It is a remarkable book about two brilliant, complicated people and their son....and of Russian emmigrants to the USA....and all that meant....She dedicated her life to his "genius" and she was an amazing translator and businesswoman, and spoke over 6 languages - in addition to taking complete care of him....They never owned a home, moved all the time, and caught butterflies in their spare time...:)
I really liked it. This was the first comic I read that introduced me to Stephanie Brown and it made me love her. The art is also very well done.
