One of a handful of books on my "keeper" shelf. I can't find the right descriptors, the best superlatives, to tell how this book moved me. With a Midwestern upbringing, I thought much of what I read in southern novels was for fictional purposes. Then I spent eight years in North Carolina, and came to recognize the depth and glow of books like this. Truly a jewel.

So I have to agree with my friend Suz on this series. It is not the greatest series and I am not really enjoying them. This book in particular was very strange. The going back and forth between Shane and Claire was annoying. At least these books are short reads so they don't take up too much of my time. I am glad to be done with them for now.
