Read in two days. Nuff said.
The first three quarters of the book is a four; the last quarter, a two. Seer is quieter and more reflective than the other Sevenwaters books, which is appropriate given a druid is the heroine. As always, Marillier's writing is like a long piece of music, with refrains and themes. However, my favorite parts of the book are the moments that review events in previous installments. At the romantic climax of the book, I found myself moved by Ciaran talking about Niamh, rather than Sibeal talking about Felix or vice versa. The end of the novel falls into a bit of a treacly mess, and the resolution feels like a deus ex machina. However, the "quest" part of the novel is pure Marillier. While I didn't love it, I still recommend it (and true Sevenwaters fans won't miss it anyway).
