أنا فقط في منتصف الطريق ولكن هذا الكتاب مذهل - لا أستطيع أن أصدق أنه مجاني في متجر iBooks!
Every third grader should read this book about Mrs. Whaley telling everyone that Ramona is a nuisance.
Still reading this, but so far it's true to the reasons I love Nabokov... ironic, dark, beautifully written, and hilarious, as evidenced by the first sentence of the book, 'Once upon a time there lived in Berlin, Germany, a man called Albinus. He was rich, respectable, happy; one day he abandoned his wife for the sake of a youthful mistress; he loved; was not loved; and his life ended in disaster." Amazing stuff that makes you wonder whether to laugh or cry. More on this later. 3.10: Just finished the book, but the plot and characters are still circling around in my head. There is no redemption for our hero, which makes it all the more real- but it definitely doesn't help alleviate the twisted, disturbing knot in my gut after reading the book. Despite this, I want to read it again just to marvel at the writing. I swear, I'd read Nabokov every single day if it wasn't so goddamn depressing.
