** spoiler alert ** Even though the ending was utterly disappointing and seemingly slapped on in a hurry, this book kept we totally engaged. I HATE that we did not find out what happened to Detective Ryan and, judging by the teaser chapter for The Likeness at the end of my edition, it seems likely that we never will. I also had a huge problem with the relationship between Rob and Cassie. It felt like the author was trying to be realistic and non-fairytale/rom-com about it, but it came off as less than genuine. My friend Emily pointed out that there would be no way that their relationship with deteriorate so completely and so quickly after sleeping together once. I didn't expect them to live happily ever after, but I did expect these two smart and rational characters to pick up the pieces and carry on. That being said, I loved reading this book. It is the kind of book that puts you in another world when you open its pages. /reading rainbow sentimentalism
The author included a few fanciful pet stories along with a lot of technical information and black and white pictures about using solar and wind power, making it a unique read. I'm not into the technical , but I can point my husband to the information, should we decide it would be cost effective to go the solar route. I found out our plugged-in appliances draw a small ammount of power when not running, therfore wasting resourses, and costing us money over time. So unplug your mixer, hairdryer ect. when not you're not using them. Battery operated clocks are way cheaper to run then electric clocks. Very practical book!
