I was torn in what rating to give this book. I felt that by liking the book I may be in some way expressing "like" for the horrific events that took place. I know this is not the case, but I couldn't help the way I felt. This memoir truly touched my heart and I shed many tears before I reached the end. After careful consideration, and a lot of inner debate, I confidently say that my rating is reflective of my feelings for the survivor Jaycee Lee Duggard proved to be, both as a child, and even more as an adult. This memoir is a testament to her strength and perseverance and that is what I liked most. Disclaimer: Although I recommend this memoir, I do not recommend it to those who are fainthearted. It was difficult to get through some parts of this book, especially being a parent, woman, wife, and mother.

Stephanie recommended this to me, and it was very good. There is some bad language, but not enough to make it weird. It's about a girl who's father died who slowly comes out of her shell. It's really good.
