anasrodiansyah

I really had hoped that I would like this book. It started out with a reasonably intruiging story line, following a woman who is charged with keeping safe a series of ancient documents that may change the way people understand and interpret the Bible. Despite starting out strong, I found that the story quickly became convoluted and, in some places, just plain strange--it seemed like every sentence was a complicated metaphor that I just wasn't understanding. The further I got in the book, the more I felt it had a mystical or metaphysical quality with which it was very hard for me to connect. I haven't read Naslund's other works, so I can't say if this is indicative of her overall writing style or simply the tone that was set for this book, but I found it to be a struggle to make it through the narrative.
