These books are sweet. Precious Ramotswe sets up shop in a small detective shop in a storefont in Gaborone, Botswana. She's a lady detective who solves all sorts of country crimes:track down a missing husband, uncover a con man and follow a wayward duaghter. Great quick read and there are a ton in the series.

Like most anthologies, this volume contains hits and misses. However, the ones that are great hit you like a zombie that you didn't notice was there until it's too late and its snapping jaws are inches from your neck and your pushing it away, while at the same time trying to pull up your weapon to get a head-shot and the entire time you're thinking: "This is why I love zombies!" Stories in this collection that you should definitely read: "Malthusian's Zombie", "Meathouse Man" by George R. R. Martin (he wrote this one over 30 years ago and won't read it today because it brings up bad memories--I can see why, full of heartbreak and regret), "Bitter Grounds" by Neil Gaiman, "Almost the Last Story by Almost the Last Man", "How the Day Runs Down" (It's 'Our Town' with Zombies-are reminder that while zombies are cool, they disrupt life and destroy the people and places we love). And finally, "Passion Play" wherein a zombie is a Christ-figure. Yeah, I would have never thought of it either, but it works so exceedingly well. Pick up this volume if you like zombies. And if you don't like zombies, pick up this volume for a zombie lover you know.
