A different approach of combining history and art to a fictional plot. I enjoyed learning a lot about the underworld of secret brotherhoods.
Talk about depressing, this is the story of the Great Depression at its worst.
Fuuuuuuuun! A fellow YA writer recommended this book to me, and I am so, so glad I read it. It was the perfect book for a day of traveling. Light and fun, but a total page-turner. The author jumps into the action from the start, and doles out background like breadcrumbs -- one at a time and very slowly. I loved it! I had a million questions most of the time, which really suited the whole spy-theme of the book. Kat, the main character, is awesome. She's smart and oblivious, and really good at what she does. Kat is also loyal and sensitive, which makes her a really interesting spy. Such a fun read. I'd recommend this in a heartbeat! Can't wait to read the sequel! (And see the movie!)
