I was really not a fan of this book - depressing, boring, and self-important. I would not recommend it.

I ordinarily hate books like this, but this one was pretty okay. I didn't loathe it.

I read it because the title is incredible. Luckily, the book is just as good. A very poetic read...every scene, every person, every interaction described has such a vivid color and texture to it. I haven't seen the movie yet (I'm sort of afraid to) but it would make great material for a visual interpretation. As a book-- quiet, sad, strange and in tune with the quirks of our own "human-ness".

It's not as good as the DaVinci Code, but it will keep you interested. Give it a try
