I stopped reading this book through the introduction, after losing interest in book reading for a brief period. I should pick it up again. Economics research. Ethics and economics issues. Looks very promising.

I'm not real sure how to feel about this one. I found it hard to read--it took me several chapters just to figure out which character was which. (I may have cheated a little with Wikipedia, thus inadvertently spoiling myself. Oops.) Sometimes it felt like things like irony or allegory were being hit way too hard, like it was raining anvils. Other times it felt like the author didn't even *want* me to be able to figure out what was going on. I know I missed a lot of detail and meaning, which I think was intentional. It's the kind of story you read several times and pick up something new each time. I should probably mention that, as far as I can remember, this is my first comic book/graphic novel. Perhaps I'm just not used to the style.

George Babbitt is put forth by Lewis as the epitome of middle class America. He manages to be both simplistic and complicated, a credit to Lewis, who excels at writing multi-layered, satirical dialogue.
