I'm not one for touchy-feely self help books, but this one was recommended by a friend and it tought me a wonderful lesson that I still hold onto today - don't take everything so damn personally.
After having fallen in love with The Book Thief, I decided to try another of Zusak's books. Had his name not been on the cover, I never would have thought this was the same author - still good, but quite different. It had too many far-fetched incidents. Still, it was a page-turner. I liked the characters, and it delivered a positive message, particularly for his Young Adult audiences; but the message was way overdone, especially in the last few chapters. I'm with the group that was disappointed in the ending. He seemed to have wrapped it up rather quickly; and while I thought it was a bit clever, it seemed more like a cop-out to me. With a few changes, I think it could have been a four-star for me. I won't give up on this writer.
