I liked this book, but the more closer I was to the end, it was less and less fun, and I found it boring and kinda disgusting. But I'm glad I've read this book.

A funny, heartbreaking weave of stories with a baroque abandonment of flourishes and liberties. I was fascinated by how it somehow keeps its shape, amidst all the wit and weird imaginative twists, but the reason I give it four instead of five stars is that I'm old enough to appreciate restraint above shooting with all guns. Two other authors that ride this line are Tom Robbins and David James Duncan. I love their work, but can't help feeling like they're kind of showing off.
