This is the ultimate comfort read for me. It's just a sweet story. It's long and it's relaxed like someone taking a leisurely walk through a park on a spring day. There was a natural progression to Wes and Toren's relationship. There was no insta-love and they don't have sex two minutes after they meet. Is it exciting? Not really. Is it titillating? No. The story did, however, feel like an honest look at how a highschool sweetheart relationship might go. Toren's a bookish, shy and sort of geeky senior. There were a few things I liked about Toren's character. He had a bit of backbone to him, and in the beginning he's not all moon-eyed over Wes. Wes is the school bad boy who Toren thinks is sexy and worth crushin' on a little. Wes is a bad boy who's not all that bad and he's so adorable when he's with Toren. I love the scenes where Toren is trying to get Wes to study. It ended up being Wes who made me go "awwwww" a couple of times. I would read another book about Wes and Toren that was maybe written from Wes' point of view. I really hope to see more from this author.
