Few contemporary series have brought me as much joy and delight as Fforde's Thursday Next series, and this one was just amazing. I've been away from the series for a few years, so I was struck anew by the sheer crazy creativity of these books. The whole series is written in the first person from the perspective of Thursday Next, but this installment is written from the perspective of the written version of Thursday from the first 5 books, not the real Thursday. (OR IS SHE?!?!?) It's a little heavier on the world building and exploration, but in an utterly delightful way. I feel like Jasper Fforde really gets me.

I keep getting lured into reading Diana Palmer books - I think it must be the book covers. Her books are OK, quick to read; but I don't remember them very long afterwards and I feel slightly unsatisfied once I've read them. Sorry, Diana!
