Novela tierna y sensible, leída después de otras más maduras de Capote me parece débil.
when i first picked this book up a couple years ago, i began reading it in little bits, twenty pages here and there. i recently decided to finish reading all the books i had interrupted or stopped for whatever reason; when i picked this one up again, i realized i had to just start all over again. i feel this book is very much dependent on momentum. i'm now, two days later, four hundred pages in. so far, the book has nauseated me at times and mostly intrigued me. i feel like i'm reading some freaky mystery novel from the future.
A wonderful, thought-provoking book about the German perspective during World War 2. The book is about love, friendships, loyalty, the hardships of war and so much more. But the book is written in such an unconventional way. Death is the narrator and he flash forwards to major moments in the last part of the story, so when characters die you're just not surprised. I guess it worked, but I feel like had I not know it was coming I might have cried. But I didn't. The characters in this book are great—they're well formed and they grow. They're like friends you learn more about the more time you spend with them.
Perfect beach read - I am flying through this series - not literary fiction but fun summer books. I like how the characters from old books keep turning up - I really like Alcide and wish she would get together with him.
