قراءة ممتعة سهلة. من المثير للاهتمام معرفة قصة شخص نشأ في وقت لا يختلف عن ذلك. لا أستطيع أن أقول أنني حقا الصنوبر في أبسط الأوقات التي تصفها. أعشق السباكة في الأماكن المغلقة ولا أقتل دجاجاتي. ومع ذلك ، هناك ما تقوله عن الحياة الأسرية في المزرعة في ذلك الوقت. أوصي به لأي شخص يبحث عن قراءة تعليمية وممتعة وسهلة القراءة.

Loved this book! Saba is a kick *ss heroine, a true warrier. She is fun to read about and can always figure out a way.....but she certainly has some flaws. She has a one track mind....her mission is to find her beloved twin brother who has been kidnapped. Nothing else matters to her, not her annoying little sister who she is now in charge of, not helping others who desperatley need her help along the way and definitely not attractive dare devil boys who you can't seem to shake. But as the story progresses so does Saba...she grows and changes and becomes a much more rounded person who in the begininning would have betrayed anyone, even abandonded her kid sister if it meant finding her brother but by the end is willing to sacrifice herself for her friends and family. Don't get me wrong, this is an action packed book, you will never be bored and it is a fun-fast ride but my favorite part was the character development. You do not see this often with young adult dystopia and I was greatly impressed. I loved all the characters. I do not think there was one I didn't love, even the villians were well done although the king was not very scary. The first person prose were a shock at first as Saba cannot read or write and talks in a short to the point way with a heavy red-neckish accent but about a 1/4 way in I really started to like the writing style, it helps to really get into Saba's head and also to help establish this new world we are learning about. The world building was decent, I never found myself thinking no way that would ever work or could happen. We get no real expanation for how things came to be the way they are and as curious as I am I think this is sometimes the best way to introduce these dystopian societies. When authors try to flesh out their worlds too much things inevitably begin to get convuluted and don't make as much sense. Let us use our imagination and put the clues together to form our own conclusions of how things came to be what they are. This is one not to be missed, can't wait to read the others in the series.

I absolutely fell in love with this book. The love story is heart warming and the constant battle Vivian has to deal with on a daily basis is one only a woman like her can defeat. This was a very well written book and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a different kind of love story.
