I would be lying if I said that this wasn't one of my favorite series of all time when I read it four years ago. And for some strange reason I had the urge to reread it again, something that I rarely do. One book, maybe. An entire series? Never. Yet I thought I could give the series another try, knowing very well that I hated the horrible ending. But this time, I decided to read the Goodreads reviews of other people. Many of them HATED this book saying that it was absolutely boring and confusing. Too many new characters and too much complaining from the protagonist. Not to mention the love triangle that I am very biased over. But I have to say that I still liked the book anyways. Yes, there wasn't that much action and yes, Dru Anderson did complain quite a bit. She was not the Badass that she once was in book one. But hell, she's been through so much in book one AND two. Give the girl a damn break. I would find it harder to believe if she wasn't fazed at all about the events that occurred in her life. So no, I did not find the storyline boring for the "first 200 pages". However, what did tick me off is her obvious lack of trust on Graves. Throughout the whole book Dru mentions that he is the ONLY one that hasn't deserted her, yet she lies to him because "she's no snitch"? Seriously? You're basing yourself on some elementary school motto? If you get beat up and the one person you trust is asking you who did it, you tell them. You don't whine about wanting to run away and evade his questions. So I must say that I hated her attitude towards Graves. And when he DOES leave her to vent and doesn't come back, her logic is that he left her behind. Bitch, he has NEVER left your side since day one and that's your conclusion? More like an excuse to not think about him and get all cozy with the 1000 year old vampire who has a fetish for svetochas and their mothers. Because of this, I decided to change my 5 star rating to 3 stars. I loved the storyline. Hell, I even like Queen Bitch Anna's character. But I HATED the way Graves was treated in this book. Make up your fucking mind Dru. Rant over.
