This book was adapted to film, which I found curious seeing how hard to translate to film I think this novel would be. The story is a young man's search into his family's history. It is a love story that transcends time and place, connecting people through many generations through oral histories, myths, books, and letters. I seem to respect authors who can take serious history subjects, such as the Jews in the time of Nazi Germany, different writing genres, and the human experience and create a fluid story a reader cannot stop reading.
