Great characters.

I like stories that get me out of my comfort zone and expose me to things that I would never otherwise experience. I picked this book up because I liked Krakauer's style in Outside magazine and also wanted to try to understand the motivation of those who attempt to climb Everest. I got that and so much more out of it as I came to care about the people involved. This book made me cry. A lot. I also watched the documentary that was filmed during the same season on Everest (mentioned in the book). Both are excellent.
