This was a very cute & inspiring story, but without being overly cutesy. I think I read this book at the perfect time in my life. I related to Gwen because she saw so much potential in Homer, the blind cat she adopted in kitten-hood. Since he was a cat, Homer never recognized that he was "disabled" and therefore made the best of his life. The book reaches it's climax with Gwen living in NY on 9/11. Her condo complex is only a few blocks from ground zero. She spends several agonizing days trying to get back to her 3 cats, who are literally trapped inside the building. All's well that ends well, however, and I like that this book had an upbeat ending. Rather than concluding with the cat's death, it ends with Gwen's wedding to the love of her life. I would highly recommend this book to all cat lovers. :) It is not overly cheesy, but it is very entertaining.
Very quick read and interesting. I thought I was a disciplinarian for my daughters and self but on the spectrum of Tiger Mother, I'm lax. Definitely makes you think about your parenting style but for me, enjoying all life has to offer (and even relaxing once and awhile) is way better than being a concert pianist.
