أنا أحب هذا الإصدار من الجمال والوحش. كان رومانسي جدا.
With a terrible serial killer and a surprise twist at the end, the plot was well above the expected. The cast of characters were, as always, amazing. Peabody and McNab get special emphasis in this book but Mira, Morris, Whitney, Tibble, Feeney, Baxter, Charles, Louise, Mavis and Leonardo get their fair share of time. Lots of wonderful visualizations and scenes as usual. Eve filling Peabody in on her childhood and its ramifications on the job, Peabody getting a kiss from Roarke (Who needs drugs?), the dinner party hosted by Charles and Louise, Feeney's wife nagging him into wearing trendier clothes . . . Wonderful stuff.
This is not a happy book. It is not uplifting or inspiring. But the writing is amazing and the characters and real. Some things I gasped at and got mad at and shook my head at. But in the end I couldn't stop thinking about it, and that is a good book to me. I would read this purely for the enjoyment of Pearl S. Buck's writing style. She is amazing.
Cute. But probably not going to be on my list of "life-altering" books. Probably more fun than ready a self-help book though!
