This novel definitely deserves to be one of the best in the twentieth century. Orwell's sharp description of the main characters in the novel is brilliant. He painted a vivid picture of the Animal farm - named earlier as the Manor Farm - where the animals revolted against Mr Jones, their human master , and drove him out of the farm to run the farm themselves.Throughout the novel, the animals who agreed upon seven commandments, the most important of which is that all animals are equal, find each of these commandments gradually abolished or modified to serve the interests of their new animal masters; the pigs. Orwell 's novel is an account of a revolution that went wrong but he is mainly alluding to the betrayal of Stalin and his acolytes to the Russian revolution. Though the book was written over fifty years ago, it is still relevant and most of us can relate to the events that occured throughout the novel and find great similarities between the main characters and some real leaders and politicians in our modern world. It is a great book that everyone should read.
