تجتاح حكاية والفيلم. إنه لأمر رائع أن يكون الابن قد جمع الكتاب بعد وفاة والده.

High kicks!! I finished all 964 pages. I have been carrying Cleo around with me for weeks. How I wish I could have read this on my Kindle. Enjoyed the writing style of Margaret George and look forward to reading other books by her. I am especially interested in "Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles." (It is on Kindle, yeah!) I didn't know anything about Cleopatra before reading this. Didn't know she was a Macedonian Greek or how gifted she was in learning languages. There was a lot of research done and it seems to be historically accurate. Learned about Julius Caesar, Caesar Augustus (Octavian, boo-hiss in this account) and Marc Antony. Loved how her friends Olympos and Mardian were written. Olympos has a delicious dry sense of humor. Also liked Charmian and Iras. All four are historical figures with fun, fictional personalities. I like that the story is told by Cleopatra telling her entire life story on ten scrolls. It was an interesting way to organize the story. It is a long book and I was excited to finish one scroll and start another. There was a rough patch for me. The battle of Actium was painful to read. I trudged through it and wished that part had been a little shorter. I would recommend this book. I am going to miss Cleo and the gang at Alexandria, Egypt. The memories of it will stay with me for awhile.
