one of my favorites

I liked this book. Nitty-gritty setting as the plague hits medival England. Not quite a mystery but lots of intrigue among the characters. The plot twists and turns were interesting and unique.

Shane Jones' intricate novel reminded me of Madeleine Is Sleeping because of its structure and postmodern manipulations. Some interesting things are done here, but I did not feel invested in either the characters or the story.

Seth is a great storyteller, and his prose is beautiful. This book is ultimately a love story, although it doesn't read like one. It's also a historical account of Germany's societal changes before and after WWII.
